Bitget has told users from Russia and Kazakhstan to close their positions and withdraw their funds within five days. As recently as October 15, Russia wasn’t on the exchange’s list of restricted regions, and Bitget was serving Russian clients as usual. The policy changed in less than a day.
At the same time, Bitget’s Chinese-language account on X announced tighter sanctions controls. The exchange warned it will block accounts linked to deposits or withdrawals through sanctioned platforms, including HTX, EXMO and Xeltox Enterprises.
With these moves, Bitget is trying to reduce regulatory pressure. For major centralized exchanges, pulling out of high-risk jurisdictions is gradually becoming standard practice.
The current list of restricted countries and the full text of the new rules are on Bitget’s website. Users should check their account and email so they don’t miss any notices.
